Cookie Policy
Last updated . Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This page lists the ones Calculation Guide and its providers may use and how to control them.
What Calculation Guide uses
Calculators run in your browser and do not need cookies. Calculation Guide uses local storage to remember an optional theme preference and, when standalone analytics is available, your analytics choice. Google may set the advertising, consent and analytics cookies below when those services are active on the site. A row marked “not active” describes a service that is not switched on yet.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
calculation-guide-theme (local storage) | Calculation Guide | Remembers light or dark mode. Set only when you change the theme. | Until you clear site data | Active |
calculation-guide-analytics-consent-v2 (local storage) | Calculation Guide | Remembers whether you allowed or declined Google Analytics and SitePulse live analytics. | Until you change the choice or clear site data | Active |
FCCDCF, FCNEC | Google (consent message) | Stores your consent choices for advertising and analytics. | Up to 13 months | Not active |
__gads, __gpi, __eoi | Google AdSense | Measures ad interactions, limits how often an ad is shown and helps prevent ad fraud. | Up to 13 months | Not active |
IDE, test_cookie (doubleclick.net) | Personalizes ads and measures their performance across sites, where you have allowed it. | Up to 13 months in the EEA and UK, up to 24 months elsewhere | Not active | |
_ga, _ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | Distinguishes visits so page views can be counted. | Up to 2 years | After consent |
SitePulse does not set analytics cookies or persist its session ID in browser storage. After consent, it keeps a random session ID in page memory for up to 30 minutes. Closing or reloading the page starts a new in-memory session. The older calculation-guide-analytics-consent preference may still exist in storage; an old approval does not approve the updated two-service notice.
Google may change cookie names and lifetimes. Its current list is in How Google uses cookies.
Necessary, preference, advertising and analytics cookies
Preference storage, such as the theme setting, only changes how the site looks for you. Consent storage records the choice you make in the consent message so you are not asked on every page. Advertising cookies help Google choose and measure ads; with your consent they can personalize ads using your activity on other sites. Analytics cookies count visits so we can see which tools are useful.
Advertising is inactive. Google Analytics and SitePulse load only after you choose Allow analytics; declining keeps both trackers blocked.
How to control cookies
- Use the Privacy & cookie choices link at the bottom of every page to change or withdraw your choice.
- Turn off personalized Google ads in Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some vendors at aboutads.info/choices.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. Blocking all cookies does not stop calculators from working.
- Install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on to stop Analytics measurement.
More detail about data handling is in the Privacy Policy.
