What Calculation Guide does

Calculation Guide brings everyday calculations into one place. Each tool starts with a specific question, such as “What will this loan cost each month?”, “How old will I be on a certain date?” or “What happens to my GPA when course credits differ?” You enter the figures for your own case instead of trying to adapt somebody else's example.

The result page shows what the number means, how it was calculated and which inputs were used. A loan payment is shown alongside interest; a GPA uses the credits attached to each grade; a Pakistan salary tax estimate uses the tax year stated on its page. You can change a value and calculate again to see how the answer moves.

What you can work out here

  • Money and work: loan payments, simple and compound interest, salary tax, pension estimates, profit margins and break-even points.
  • Dates and study: age, time between dates, percentages, grades, GPA and CGPA with the relevant credit hours.
  • Local and everyday figures: Zakat estimates, marla and kanal conversions, currencies and gold jewellery quotes. For prices and exchange rates, use your own quote or request an indicative reference where the tool offers one.

Use the calculator workspace to search the full library or browse by topic. If you want to see a calculation explained from beginning to end, the articles walk through selected examples and link back to the matching tool.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Useful for everyday checks and careful comparisons

You do not need to know a formula before starting. Choose the task that matches your situation, then check the page's units and assumptions before using its answer.

People planning everyday costs

If you are checking whether a repayment fits your budget, enter the amount, rate and term to see an estimated monthly payment and total interest. You can also use the date and cost tools for smaller questions, such as an age on a given date or a shared bill.

Try Loan Payment Calculator

People working with Pakistan-specific rules

Salary tax, pension, Zakat and local unit conversions depend on details that a generic calculator may miss. These tools show the year, unit or threshold used, so you can compare the estimate with the document or ruling that applies to you.

Try Pakistan Salary Tax Calculator

Students and teachers

Course credits change a GPA, just as semester credit hours change a CGPA. Enter the actual grades and hours, then use the displayed breakdown to understand which course or semester moved the average. Percentage and unit tools help with everyday classwork too.

Try GPA Calculator

Small businesses and freelancers

A higher selling price does not automatically mean a healthy margin. Enter cost and selling price to see gross margin, use the break-even tool to find the units needed to cover fixed costs, or compare a freelance rate with the hours you can actually bill.

From question to checked answer

A useful answer starts with the right inputs and ends with a quick check of what the calculator included. This four-step approach works across the site.

  1. 01

Start with the question you need answered

Open one of the calculators above, or use the workspace search if you know the task but not the tool's name. For example, search for a monthly loan payment rather than guessing from a list of finance terms.

  2. 02

Check the fields before entering numbers

Read the label and unit beside each field. A yearly rate is different from a monthly rate; taxable salary is different from gross pay. If a page uses a tax year, grade scale, currency quote or nisab threshold, confirm it matches your case.

  3. 03

    Calculate, then read the explanation

The large result is the starting point. Look at the breakdown, formula and worked example to see what the tool counted. The limitations section explains details the calculation does not include, such as a lender's extra fees or a rule outside the selected year.

  4. 04

    Change one input and compare

Try a second rate, term or amount while keeping the other figures the same. This shows which input caused the change and helps you compare two cases fairly. Note down the figures you used so you can repeat the comparison later.

Example: compare two loan terms

Enter the same loan amount and annual rate, then calculate once with a shorter term and again with a longer one. Read both the monthly payment and total interest. A longer term may reduce the payment while increasing the interest paid overall; your lender's fees and terms still need a separate check.

A calculator is an estimate based on the inputs and rules shown on its page. For decisions involving tax, health, money or religious obligations, verify the applicable source. How we explain results

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What can I calculate on Calculation Guide?

You can work out loans, interest, Pakistan salary tax, Zakat, dates, grades, conversions, business figures and everyday costs. The full workspace groups the tools by topic.

How do I find the right calculator?

Use Get started to open the calculator workspace, then search by the problem you want to solve or browse a category. You can also open the full calculator directory.

Are the calculators free to use?

Yes. The published calculators are free and do not require an account.

Can I see how the result was worked out?

Each calculator shows the method or formula, explains its inputs and includes a worked example. Check its limitations before using the result for a decision.

Which calculators are made for Pakistan?

Pakistan salary tax, pension and service tools, Zakat-related calculations, marla conversion, gold quotations and PKR currency conversion are among the locally relevant tools.

Why might my answer differ from a bank or payslip?

The source may use another rate, tax year, rounding method, fee or date convention. Compare the tool's assumptions with the figures on your document.

Are currency and gold rates live?

Where available, you can request a dated indicative reference rate or enter your own quote. The site does not silently use a rate, and a bank or jeweller may quote a different price.

Are my entries sent to a calculation server?

Calculator inputs are processed in your browser. Requesting an external currency or gold reference rate contacts the named rate provider; see the Privacy Policy for details.

Can these results replace professional advice?

No. Tax, health, financial and religious results are calculation aids. Confirm the current rule and your own circumstances with an appropriate source before acting.

Where can I read a longer example or report an error?

The Articles section has worked examples linked to calculators. If you spot an error, use Contact and include the tool name and non-sensitive inputs so the issue can be checked.
