ABOUT THIS CATEGORY

What these calculators cover

Household estimates are mostly unit conversions plus a price. Fuel cost turns distance and fuel economy into liters, electricity cost turns watts and hours into kilowatt-hours, and construction turns area into tiles, boxes or cans of paint.

Every price comes from you. Fuel prices, electricity tariffs and material rates change and vary by region, so the tools never assume one. Many utilities, including Pakistan's distribution companies, bill in slabs; Electricity Cost uses a single flat rate, so enter the rate that applies to the extra units.

A quick comparison
01

Fuel Cost turns a route distance and chosen fuel-economy convention into liters and a price-based trip estimate. It uses only the price you enter, not a live pump rate or a forecast of changing driving conditions.

02

Electricity Cost multiplies device power and usage time into kWh before applying an entered flat tariff and fixed charge. Split Bill instead allocates an entered restaurant or group bill, tax and tip among people; optional share weights support an uneven split.

03

Construction, Tiles & Paint answers three different area-based project questions. Budget mode uses an entered unit rate, tile mode rounds boxes after whole tiles, and paint mode rounds cans after calculating coated-wall liters. Every price and allowance is visitor-supplied.

Each tool shows its formula, a worked example and the limits of its result. Read our calculation methodology for the shared rules.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Everyday Costs questions

01How do I find my electricity rate per unit?

Divide the energy charge on your bill by the units billed, or use the slab rate for your usage band. One unit is one kilowatt-hour.

02Can Split Bill handle people paying different shares?

Yes. Add weights so one person pays a larger share. Tax and tip are split in the same proportions, and the result shows how rounding to cents was handled.

03Why does the tile count include extra tiles?

Cutting around edges and breakage waste tiles. Construction adds the allowance you enter, rounds to whole tiles, then rounds up to whole boxes.
